5. Matane Wildlife Viewing

Departs: Matane, from June to August

Renowned for its prominent presence of moose, Matane Wildlife Reserve is

situated 25 miles from Matane in the Gaspésie region of Quebec. The largest

member of the deer family, over 4,000 moose share 1,275 square kilometres,

creating an incredible population density. The park has a full range of

observation and interpretation activities designed to provide an in-depth look

at these amazing creatures. This exciting three day wildlife viewing package

includes two nights in a self-contained cabin, a guided moose observation

tour, a visit to the Moose Interpretation Centre and kayak rental.

6. Whales Kingdom Guided Tour

Departs: Quebec City, from May to October

The Atlantic Ocean is an immense playground for whales. Every spring,

thousands of them turn their backs on this habitat to enter the St. Lawrence,

some of them travelling up the Estuary as far as the mouth of the Saguenay,

to feed on fish and plankton throughout the summer. This 11 hour tour from

Quebec City provides further insight into the habits of the Finback, Mike and

Beluga whales. As you travel along the St. Lawrence River into the mountains

of the Charlevoix, knowledgeable commentary on the natural history of this

rugged and unspoilt land is shared. On arrival in Tadoussac, you board a

specially designed ship with an experienced naturalist, for a whale watching

excursion. A Zodiak boat tour option is also available.

7. Anticosti Island Experience

Departs: Montreal and Quebec City, from June to August

In the Gulf of St. Lawrence lies Anticosti Island, a natural jewel renowned as

Quebec’s island paradise. Its dazzling scenery of giant-walled canyons, vast

seas, colossal cliffs, powerful waterfalls, and huge secret caves enchants

every visitor who lands on its shores. There’s also an abundance of wildlife

including thousands of white-tailed deer, salmon undulating in the emerald

waters of the Jupiter River, and seals stretched out on the rocks. Choose

a three or four night package, staying at the wonderfully rustic Auberge

McDonald. Flights are included from either Montreal or Quebec City and all

meals during your stay, but your days are free to create your own adventure

in this unique environment. On foot or by bicycle, horse or car, discover the

many secrets of this mysterious land.

8. City & Country Tour

Departs: Quebec City, from January to December

Combine a magnificent tour of Quebec City with the delights of the area

which surrounds it, over two consecutive days. Day one includes all the

magical highlights of this 400-year-old city. Visit the Latin Quarter, Plains

of Abraham, Ramparts, the world-famous Chateau Frontenac, National

Assembly, Basilica, City Hall, Place-Royale and Citadelle. On day two you

travel back in time to rural Quebec, along the 40 kilometre Chemin du

Roy to Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre, where you visit the famous shrine.

Montmorency Falls is the next port of call, towering one and a half times

the height of Niagara Falls, before a short visit to the Island of Orleans

which was discovered by Jacques Cartier in 1535.
