1. Calgary Stampede
Departs: Calgary, during July
Every July, Calgary transforms into a showground for the largest outdoor
rodeo in the world. Professional cowboys compete in a myriad of rodeo
events, including bull riding, roping, chuckwagon racing, steer wrestling and
barrel racing. In addition to the world-famous rodeo, there’s a whole host of
attractions and activities to enjoy. From countless food stalls and a Western
Oasis celebrating art and culture, to agricultural showcases and local craft
stores providing the opportunity of owning your very own pair of cowboy
boots. This three night package treats you to two days admission to Stampede
Park, reserved seating at selected shows, a Skyride over Stampede Park and
heaps of Western hospitality.
2. River Valley Adventures
Departs: Edmonton, from January to December
Located in Edmonton, on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River, River
Valley Adventures are experts in exploring the city’s great outdoors. Enjoy a
Segway tour, gliding effortlessly through the park, whether new to Segway
adventures or a seasoned pro as beginner and advanced routes are available to
suit all abilities. In warmer months, take out a top-of-the-range Rocky Mountain
bike, whilst a fat bike makes the better choice in harsher weather conditions, to
explore over 480 kilometres of trails. If you prefer your own stride, try a running
tour to the top of Louise McKinney Park, which showcases beautiful views of
the River Valley. Tours are escorted by a Park Expert who enlightens you with
facts and trivia about this fascinating city.
3. Chateaux & Castles
Departs: Calgary, from May to October
Discover the highlights of Western Canada on this three night adventure. Enjoy
a scenic drive through the foothills of the Rocky Mountains to the beautiful
town of Banff, where highlights include a visit to the Hoodoos; rocks shaped by
centuries of wind, a stop at Surprise Corner for a view of the world famous Banff
Springs Hotel, as well as a visit to Tunnel Mountain Drive which overlooks the
splendour of Bow Valley and finally, Cave & Basin where Banff’s history began.
A free day allows you to independently explore, before travelling along Icefields
Parkway; one of the most scenic highways in North America. It is known for
sightings of bears, elk, moose and mountain sheep, so keep your camera handy.
On arrival at Columbia Icefield, an Ice Explorer vehicle takes you across
Athabasca Glacier, truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The final night is
spent in picturesque Lake Louise, before returning to Calgary.
4. Zipline Adventures
Departs: Whistler, from January to December
Reach speeds of up to 50mph as you soar through the trees on a zipline
adventure. Weaving through the forest canopy, you can be at one with
nature, as you zig-zag across the rushing waters of Fitzsimmons Creek.
Exhilarating and exciting, Ziptrek’s Bear Tour features five ziplines; a network
of suspension bridges, boardwalks and forest trails, perfect for families and
first-timers. For adrenaline seekers, the breathtaking Eagle Tour features five
different ziplines covering a 30 storey descent. Its final zipline swooshes you
back into Whistler Village, making for an impressive arrival! Alternatively,
experience the forest by moonlight on an interpretive canopy walk which
includes six ziplines and eight treetop bridges.
