Pennsylvania offers everything for an unforgettable visit.

Looking for the big city experience? Then why not explore the exciting, cosmopolitan cities of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh? Bursting with historical attractions, fabulous shopping from quaint boutiques to bustling markets and a wide array of dining and evening entertainment venues, these wonderful destinations boast something for everyone.

Renowned for its natural scenic beauty, enveloping seven state parks and over 150 lakes and rivers, the Pocono Mountain region is one of year round splendor. An amazing assortment of outdoor attractions and recreation awaits visitors, from skiing and snow tubing in the winter to hiking, horse riding, fishing and boating in the warmer months.

This region is also home to some of Pennsylvania's most popular heritage resort hotels where you can practice your tennis serve and enjoy championship golf in spectacular surroundings.

The eastern region of the Keystone State is a mixture of incredible beauty, warm hospitality and rich history. This is home to Valley Forge, a place of great historical significance, where General George Washington forged his army in 1777. In Brandywine Valley you can find several boutique wineries, famed artwork and the Delaware River Wildlife Sanctuary. Take a ride on an antique carousel, steam locomotive, hot air balloon or mule-drawn canal boat in delightful Bucks County.

Pennsylvania Dutch Country has an electric mix of cultures and heritage. Harrisburg, the state capital, sits on the banks of the Susquehanna River. The ornate dome of the Capitol Building dominates the skyline and tours can be enjoyed around this five acre historical structure. The National Civil War Museum attracts visitors from across the globe.

A favourite with chocolate lovers, Hershey is home to Hershey Park, with over 60 rides, Hershey Museum recounting the life of the founder and Hershey Chocolate World. Hershey claims to be the 'sweetest place on earth', and we think you will agree.

Famous as the site of the biggest battle of the Civil War, spanning over just three days of July 1863, where thousands fought and died, Gettysburg is truly a town of huge historic proportions. The surrounding Adams Country offers outstanding scenic beauty and recreational opportunities.

In the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country sits wonderful Lancaster County. Part of the county's charm stems from the Amish communities which have resided here in the small towns and farming villages for the past 300 years. The simple way of life and valued traditions have forgone the outside world's luxuries that we all take for granted.

Enjoy the starting contrasts of Pennsylvania, from the history which made this state great to the splendid year round scenery. Whether your visit is a family vacation or romantic escape Pennsylvania is waiting to be discovered.

    • Top Tip 2

You must try a Philly cheesesteak sandwich at least once in your life so make sure it's when you're in Pennsylvania.

    • Top Tip 3

Chocoholics should head to Hershey's Chocolate World in Pennsylvania, it's the closest thing we know to Willy Wonka's chocolate factory! There's chocolate tasting for the grown-ups while children can make their own personalised chocolate bar.
