    McCall Sun Valley

Idaho’s history is rich in texture, from the early pre-eminence of American Indians to the pioneer fur trappers, miners, loggers, railroad builders and farmers who later settled the territory. Sitting on the western side of the continental divide of the Rocky Mountains, it boasts 22 state parks, 15 national forests, over 16,000 miles of rivers and streams and more than 2,000 reservoirs and natural lakes. The northern third of Idaho has the greatest concentration of lakes in the west, including Hells Canyon which is North America’s deepest river gorge.

Along with over 3,000 miles of white-water, Idaho also has the largest and the best of nature’s offerings, ideal for the outdoor enthusiast. The world-renowned ski resort of Sun Valley is located in the heart of the state and the Craters of the Moon National Monument and Park, where astronauts trained for their moon walk, are an experience for everyone. After a day of adventuring and enjoying the great outdoors, Idaho provides an abundance of natural hot springs in which to soak and relax, the perfect antidote after a day’s activity.

Idaho is also rich with Indian heritage. Five tribes call Idaho home and work hard to keep their native traditions alive. If you time your visit right, you can take in one of many pow-wows held throughout the summer, and even dance in one.

    Teton Village

Grand Teton National Park is often overshadowed by its larger neighbour Yellowstone National Park, however it is equally beautiful and provides greater opportunity to see Wyoming’s bear and moose population. Yellowstone National Park

Today, you head north past Jenny Lake to majestic Yellowstone National Park. Although spanning across three US states, 96% of the park is located in Wyoming. Sitting on Yellowstone Plateau, the park has lakes and waterfalls, mountains and valleys, a petrified forest and of course the infamous geothermal geysers. There is so much to see and do, we have allowed two nights staying at a hotel within the park, overlooking tranquil Lake Yellowstone.

It is time to venture into Montana, and today's drive takes you through Gold West Country. You may decide to stop at the World Museum of Mining in Butte or at the Virginia and Nevada City Mines which are two preserved mining camps from the 1860’s gold rush era, before arrival at the luxurious Ranch at Rock Creek where excellent service, personalised activities and gourmet dining await. The concierge service will talk you through the activities available and plan your stay so you experience everything offered. Try fly fishing, archery, clay pigeon shooting, biking, hiking and of course the horseback riding to amazing view points across the Montana plains.

Your hotel is located at Whitefish, overlooking the lake and offers a plethora of outdoor recreation. No stay in this region would be complete without visiting Glacier National Park. This natural haven has more than 700 miles of maintained trails, sparkling lakes, alpine glaciers and deep forests to explore.

Returning south, your journey passes through the traditional large town of Missoula, and the small town of Hamilton which houses Daly Mansion, the historic home of 19th century industrialist Marcus Daly.
