Coastal Bear Watch

Duration: 2.5 Hours

This tour offers an opportunity to observe black bears and explore the fjord inlets of Clayoquot Sound. During the winter months, local black bears enter a state of semi-hibernation. In May, they emerge from their dens and head towards the ocean, their nearest food source. As the bears forage in the intertidal zone, you can discreetly observe and photograph their behaviour. The tour takes place aboard an open-air, rescue-style, 24-foot rigid-hulled Zodiac, designed for this calm water program. The vessel’s shallow draft is ideal for navigating the small, sheltered bays as you watch for bears and learn about this unique environment. A Mustang Floater Suit, toque, gloves, and complimentary hot drinks upon your return are also included.

Whale Watching

Duration: 2.5-3 Hours

This tour takes you through the pristine waters of Clayoquot Sound, showcasing its stunning scenery and diverse wildlife. Depending on the season, you may encounter gray whales, humpback whales, sea lions, seabirds, and resident bald eagles. You can choose from four custom-designed vessels for the tour: the Sun Raven, Night Eagle, Light Hawk, and Spy-Hopper. These vessels accommodate 10-12 passengers each and can reach speeds of 25-30 knots. For your comfort and safety at sea, passengers are provided with full-length Mustang floater suits, which include built-in life jackets. Hats, gloves, and other gear are also available if needed.
