St. Augustine

Founded in 1565 by Spanish admiral Pedro Menendez de Aviles, St. Augustine is the oldest continuously inhabited city in the United States. Its historic charm and Spanish influence are still evident today and will unfold during your explorations. Begin the day with a tour of your historic hotel, Casa Monica Resort & Spa. Built in 1888, the hotel blends vintage Moroccan design with modern amenities and is located in the heart of St. Augustine’s Historic District. A member of Historic Hotels of America since 2001, it holds the distinction of being one of the first seven Collection hotels with Marriott.

Next, enjoy a guided walking tour of St. Augustine, where the rich stories and culture of this historic city come to life. The remainder of the day is yours to explore at your leisure.

Housed in a former oyster and crab processing factory on the banks of the Moon River, the museum offers stunning views of the wetlands and features exhibits and multimedia presentations that highlight the oyster fishing traditions and folkways of the Pin Point community, which has thrived as an isolated, self-sustaining Gullah/Geechee enclave founded by first-generation free people deeply connected to the water.

Next, travel to the historic town of Beaufort, known as the “Queen of the Carolina Sea Islands.” Here, you can choose between a locally guided historic walking tour or a carriage ride. Afterward, enjoy free time for lunch and exploration of the National Historic Landmark District before continuing on to Charleston.
