Louisville

Louisville is renowned for the annual Kentucky Derby. Horse racing enthusiasts will enjoy the Kentucky Derby Museum, offering a hands-on experience. Once in downtown, visit the Slugger Museum and Factory, take a river cruise on the Belle of Louisville or follow the Urban Bourbon Trail.

Bardstown

Located in the rolling green hills of central Kentucky’s Bluegrass Country, Bardstown is an old-world town that is home to the state’s finest bourbon distilleries. Take a tour of the Heaven Hill Distillery and stop by the Bourbon Heritage Center to learn about its intriguing history. Explore Federal Hill at My Old Kentucky Home State Park– the plantation that inspired the song ‘My Old Kentucky Home’, which is now the state song. There are several dining options but we recommend the My Old Kentucky Dinner Train – a two hour excursion through the countryside.

Harrodsburg

A full-scale replica fort in Old Fort Harrod State Park commemorates the first permanent settlement west of the Allegheny Mountains. Providing an up-close view of one of the most unique ecosystems in the country, the geologically ancient Kentucky River Palisades, is the authentic 115-passenger Dixie Belle sternwheeler. There are horseback riding trails, backroads and byways for bicycle enthusiasts, and outdoor water sports ranging from kayaking to skiing.

Frankfort

Frankfort is one of the smallest state capitals in America, but full of history. Be sure to explore the Capitol Grounds and the Kentucky History Centre with hands-on activities, interactive exhibits and dynamic collections before a spot of lunch in one of the many downtown eateries. On your way to Frankfort why not visit Midway, a small historic city located between Lexington and Frankfort and a perfect example of small-town southern charm. Here you will find unique shops and good restaurant options.

Louisville

On your return to Louisville, we would suggest that your first port of call is The Muhammed Ali Center, which has majestic views od Kentucky’s largest city. Finally for your last few hours in Louisville why not finish with a Bourbon-themed dinner at Bourbons Bistro, Louisville’s foremost Bourbon bar, located in the historic Clifton district.
