Chilko Experience Wilderness Resort, Cariboo

The resort is nestled within a 5 million acre pristine wilderness tract, which is more than twice the size of Banff and Jasper National Parks combined. If you’ve never heard of the Chilcotin, you are not alone – it is home to fewer than one person every 50 square miles. This vast wilderness of the Chilcotin region contains an astonishing array of ecosystems that cannot be found together anywhere else in the Earth’s temperate regions. There are semi-arid grasslands nearly extinct anywhere else, dormant volcanoes, ancient glacier complexes, waterfalls, the tallest mountains in British Columbia, and the awe-inspiring Chilko Lake. The resort is situated at the north end of the lake, the largest high-elevation lake in Canada. 65km in length, 366m in depth, this lake possesses an abundance of secret spectacles. From fishing creeks to abandoned cabins, rushing waterfalls to ancient glaciers, sandy beaches to forests of moss and wizards beard.

As you would expect, such a magical wilderness is in a remote location. However, getting to Chilko Experience Wilderness Resort is not as difficult as you would imagine. Charter flight – 1 hr from Vancouver. Commercial flight – 1hr from Vancouver to Williams Lake, then 3 hour scenic drive. Road trip – 10 hr drive from Vancouver. Helicopter – 90 minute flight from Vancouver.

LOG HOMES: Among sweeping lawns, lush woodlands and emerald green waters are nestled six unique, custom built luxury log homes. Each was individually designed and handcrafted by world-class master craftsmen. Expertly constructed from the finest character red cedar, and lovingly furnished with antique treasures, all homes offer stunning views and are situated for guest privacy. THE TOWER HOUSE: The spectacular Tower House is an architectural wonder that must be seen to be believed. A luxury log castle, it is comprised of open kitchen and living space, floor to ceiling windows and panoramic views looking out to the private lake and mountain beyond.  Enjoy the outdoors from the expansive deck on the lower floor, the open bed/lounge room, bathroom and two balconies on the second floor, and an observation tower and deck on the top floor. Its special loft design makes it the perfect romantic getaway for two.

The Chilko ‘All Inclusive‘ Experience includes luxury accommodation in a log home, three chef-prepared meals per day plus all snacks and all beverages (including featured BC wines and craft brews and selected spirits).
