Finger Lakes Region

Perched in the heart of upstate New York, the Finger Lakes Region is a picturesque landscape defined by its namesake, eleven narrow lakes that resemble outstretched fingers. With over 100 wineries dotting the hillsides, the Finger Lakes has earned a reputation as one of the premier wine-producing regions in the United States. Visitors can embark on scenic wine trails, sampling a wide array of award-winning wines, including Riesling, Cabernet Franc, and Chardonnay, while taking in breathtaking views of the lakes and vineyards.

In addition to its world-class wineries, the Finger Lakes Region offers a wealth of outdoor recreational opportunities. From hiking and biking along scenic trails to boating on the pristine lakes, there are countless ways to explore the region’s natural beauty. Outdoor enthusiasts can also discover hidden waterfalls, explore state parks such as Watkins Glen and Taughannock Falls, or simply relax and unwind amidst the serene surroundings.

Rochester

Sitting on the southern shores of Lake Ontario, Rochester is just 75 miles from Syracuse and 65 miles from Buffalo. A world of art, theatre, music, photography, history, nature, and play! From standing in the parlour where Susan B. Anthony was arrested for voting, to listening to great jazz on the streets, Rochester is filled with museums, attractions, music, theatre, festivals, sports, shopping, and dining opportunities. (Be sure to try a “white hot”, a variant of the hot dog).

Geneva

The charming town of Geneva is located on Seneca Lake, the largest of the beautiful Finger Lakes. Stroll down South Main Street, the historic district of Geneva and admire the beautiful protected homes and monuments leading to Pulteney Park, the original village green. Bike and walking paths in Lakefront Park lead to a wider path in Seneca Lake State Park that runs along the lake making for a picturesque outing.

New York’s Finger Lakes region has glacier-sculpted landscapes, ideal microclimates, and gifted winegrowers to produce fresh, vibrant, wines, including world-class Rieslings. Take the time to follow the wine trail and taste some of the succulent wines at the wineries along the way.

The Finger Lakes offer a vast choice of outdoor activities, which include, outstanding fishing, challenging golf courses and spectacular hiking, from mountain biking to a day on the beaches.

Ithaca

Surrounded by lush forests, cascading waterfalls, and the sparkling waters of Cayuga Lake, Ithaca is home to the tallest single-drop waterfall east of the Rocky Mountains. Outdoor adventurers alike will fall in love with Ithaca, with many hiking trails and kayaking options available throughout this stunning town. 

Ithaca’s vibrant downtown area is a hub of activity, brimming with eclectic boutiques, art galleries, and cafes. Corning

Corning is a charming city renowned for its rich history, vibrant arts scene, and world-class museums. At its heart lies the world-famous Corning Museum of Glass, showcasing centuries of glassmaking artistry and innovation. Watkins Glen

A picturesque village renowned for its stunning natural beauty and rich racing history. The crown jewel of Watkins Glen is its awe-inspiring state park, known for its breathtaking gorge and spectacular waterfalls. Carved over thousands of years by Glen Creek, the gorge features a series of 19 stunning waterfalls, each more mesmerising than the last. Visitors can hike along the winding trails that crisscross the gorge, passing behind cascading waterfalls and soaking in panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

Watkins Glen also boasts racing heritage, thanks to the historic Watkins Glen International Speedway. Since its inception in 1948, the track has hosted some of the most prestigious racing events in the world, including Formula One, NASCAR, and IndyCar races. Racing fans can visit the International Motor Racing Research Centre to learn about the history of motorsports in Watkins Glen and explore exhibits showcasing vintage race cars and memorabilia.

For those looking for something a little less adventurous, the charming downtown area is filled with boutique shops, art galleries, and eateries. Syracuse

Situated in upstate New York, Syracuse is a bustling city steeped in history, boasting a rich tapestry of culture, and a thriving community. Often referred to as the “Salt City” due to its historical significance in the salt production industry, Syracuse has evolved into a modern urban centre renowned for its vibrant arts scene. The Everson Museum of Art showcases an impressive collection of contemporary and historical artworks, while the Milton J. Rubenstein Museum of Science & Technology (MOST) offers interactive exhibits and engaging activities for visitors of all ages.
