Summer days in Whitehorse seem endless. Nineteen hours of daylight makes for lots of playtime! Anglers cast for arctic grayling along the shore. Thrill-seeking kayakers dip their paddles just upstream for whitewater fun. Those with calmer tastes canoe downstream, and the truly adventurous float this mighty waterway all the way to Dawson City.

You can hike, bike, or jog the vast network of trails, many of which follow the shores of the river. Shipyards Park hosts a weekly Farmers Market, where you can find local products such as produce and crafts, as well as music and other performances. Watch for salmon at the Fish Ladder, and check for music festivals and other special events taking place along the waterfront. Don’t forget to visit the S.S. Klondike National Historic Site, the most famous attraction, which is also located on the banks of the Yukon River.

Even though the days are short in winter, cross-country skiers enjoy the vast network of world-class trails at the Mount McIntyre Recreation Centre and throughout the city. There are miles of trails for snowmobilers as well.
