Algonquin is easily accessible from Muskoka or you can stay in a rustic luxury lodge in the park. The size of Devon, Algonquin is home to a population of over 3,000 moose as well as white-tailed deer, black bear and wolf. The park's dramatic landscape consists of rocky ridges, spruce bogs, crystal-clear lakes and rivers and Beech, Sugar Maple and Pine trees as far as the eye can see. Summer brings a carpet of wildflowers and when Autumn comes, the forest is ablaze with reds, oranges and yellows. The best way to explore is by canoe or on foot; there are routes and trails for all levels of fitness and experience.

Canoeing through a mix of large lakes and generally slow moving stretches of river, with lots of time for wildlife viewing, hiking and back country exploration. The pace is relaxed, as the objective is to have fun, slow down and leave plenty of time to explore the beauty of the Park. The campsites on this canoe trip provide a unique way to sleep amongst the stars. Practice 'no trace' camping and enjoy long swims in the clear freshwater. Fish for trout, relax and get into the rhythm of the canoe tripping lifestyle. No experience is required for the Algonquin 5 day canoe trip but you should be in fit and be able to keep active for up to 5 hours at a time - at a walking pace. The 5 day canoe trip travels one-way, west to east, through the north-western and more remote sections of the park.

    Duration: 5 Days

    Departs: Algonquin

    Day 1

Meet at the Voyageur Quest rendezvous location situated at the northwest corner of Algonquin Park. The northwest corner of Algonquin Park is famous for its rolling hills, great trout fishing and beautiful lakes. Your canoe assisted excursion to Algonquin Park starts early afternoon, along the way you will learn how to paddle, portage and have ample time to swim in the clean freshwater. Camp is conveniently located in a picturesque spot where you can enjoy a campfire cooked dinner and relax midst the peaceful, natural environment. Immerse yourself in the panoramic views of the park and fall asleep under the stars in the comfort of your tent to the sound of the west wind whistling high above.

A cooked breakfast is a welcome start to the day, before leaving camp and paddling east through a series of classic Algonquin Park lakes. A floating lunch is served and provides the energy needed to paddle up a bog where you have the opportunity to see beaver, Great Blue herons and moose. The final stop is on a beautiful lake where you have the afternoon to hike, swim and fish or take a well-deserved rest! Enjoy fresh baked bannock cooked over the fire and listen to legends and myths of travelling through the Canadian wilderness.
    Hotel: 'No trace' camping

    Day 3

Another scenic start to the day is perfected by the delivery of fresh coffee and breakfast, providing you with energy needed for the day ahead. After breakfast, head out for a hike through a mixed maple forest learning about the unique mix of flora and fauna present in the park. You then have the opportunity to learn to solo a canoe and to navigate as you paddle back to the take out, stopping along the way for a buffet-style lunch. The journey continues to your accommodation for the next two nights, Algonquin Log Cabin. You may choose to enjoy some relaxing time swimming or freshen up before the evening ahead. Enjoy a selection of cheese and wine followed by a delicious dinner at the Algonquin Log Cabin.
