Rockport, Camden & Bar Harbour

Rockport

Halfway between Kennebunkport and Bar Harbor, the pretty town of Rockport has become one of the hidden gems of the mid-coast Maine region.  The small, but stunning harbour is home to sailing and boat tours. Although it used to be a working harbour, today it is filled with pleasure and tour boats. Famous windjammers, yachts, and other beautiful boats can all be found in this quiet cove. Visitors can enjoy daily scenic excursions aboard schooners and other vessels or sunset dinner cruises with views of Penobscot Bay. For those looking to be more adventurous, try your hand at kayaking on the gentle waters around Rockport.

Downtown has an Opera House and is a thriving artists’ community, full of many local galleries, museums and art exhibitions. The relaxing town has delightful boutique shopping and delicious waterfront dining. Rockport received fame from Andre the Seal, who resided in these waters and prompted a book and movie. Mel Gibson’s Man without a Face was also filmed here.

Camden

Camden is located along Maine’s midcoast, Penobscot Bay and the Atlantic seaboard is proud to call itself the “Jewel of the Coast.” A beautiful seaport town with a harbour full of sailboats and where the mountains meet the sea.

This beautiful town is rich with history and offers an abundance of locally-owned shops, art galleries, hotels, and inns, and is a culinary mecca to the food aficionados of New England. Camden and its surrounding region are the perfect venues for many outdoor adventures — hiking and mountain biking, sailing and paddleboarding, skiing and snowboarding, camping and lighthouses, Camden will bring out your inner thrill-seeker every time.

Bar Harbour

Mansions and majestic hotels serve as reminders of Bar Harbor’s past. Today, visitors kayak, explore Acadia National Park, go bird or whale-watching, and enjoy the salty sea air and sandy beaches.

Acadia National Park is a must with its granite cliffs, sand and cobblestone beaches, and glacier-carved mountains. The park offers over 120 miles of hiking and biking trails. Take a scenic flight over Acadia National Park, Somes Sound and Cadillac mountain and of course the beautiful island lighthouses.

Stroll through the quaint town and be sure to stop for a taste of fresh lobster or homemade clam chowder.
