Sequoia & Yosemite National Parks

Sequoia National Park

Sequoia National Park located in the southern Sierra Nevada offers countless points of interest to explore: Majestic giant sequoias and redwoods, soaring Sierra spires, and North America’s deepest canyons. Recreational opportunities expand dramatically from late spring to early autumn. There are more than 800 miles of hiking trails ranging from easy to strenuous. Horseback riding, fly fishing, stargazing, and spelunking are on the itinerary.

Sandy coves and beaches line the shores of picturesque Hume Lake, which is stocked with trout. Spend a few hours admiring the magnificent views from your canoe or kayak. When you add snowmelt to some of the deepest natural canyons in the world, the result is going to be waterfalls. The star of the show is Tokopah Falls in Sequoia National Park. Officially 1,200 high, Tokopah Falls is a series of small cascades. In winter with the snow covered boughs and branches Sequoia becomes a magical winter wonderland. Enjoy the cross country skiing and snow shoeing.

Yosemite National Park

In the words of poetic naturalist, John Muir, ‘the mountains are calling, and I must go’, Yosemite National Park is a true wake-up call to all that nature has in store. As one of the first wilderness parks in the US, it still maintains its status as one of the country’s most popular national parks. Although famous for its incredible waterfalls, it also boasts over 1,165 square miles of extraordinarily deep valleys, grand meadows and ancient giant sequoia trees. Visitors marvel at its superb hiking and walking trails, fishing opportunities and the myriad of wildlife which call it home.

Throughout the seasons Yosemite offers various activities and changing landscapes.  In the spring, the fauna and flora is vibrant and diverse and at higher elevations, snowfall is possible. This is a quieter season than the summer and encourages wildlife such Bighorn Sheep, deer, bobcats and coyotes out into the open. In summer the park is full of visitors hiking and biking along the sun drenched trails. Autumn is the best time to view bears that come out to gorge on their favourite treat, fallen acorns and the snowy winters provide a wonderland of icy landscapes to explore. Yosemite evokes an awe of mother natures’ magnificence making any visit a worthwhile experience.

Tuolumne County

Tuolumne County is a charming region, offering access to Yosemite National Park from the San Francisco Bay Area, making it an ideal base for exploring the stunning wonders of Yosemite. Located in the quieter half of Yosemite, Tuolumne County offers visitors countless opportunities for peaceful and uninterrupted exploration and outdoor adventure.

Beyond its strategic location for Yosemite adventures, Tuolumne County boasts a rich history that provides an authentic Gold Rush experience. Visitors can immerse themselves in the vibrant atmosphere of its lively saloons, enjoy performances at a century-old theatre, and explore two historic state parks. Nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Tuolumne County offers a wealth of outdoor activities year-round.
