Florida severly hit by Hurricane Ian

Our thoughts are with everyone in Florida and surrounding impacted states, as Hurricane Ian passes through and leaves damage in its wake.

Although Florida is used to hurricanes and this is the season for them to hit, Ian has caused significant damage in some areas. They are well-prepared for the clean-up operation, having been in this position many times and the damage is being assessed by local agencies.

As of September 30th 2022, this is the position of some of our programme services:

– La Playa, Naples – sustained pretty heavy damage and will be closed until at least December 15th 2022.
– Inn on Fifth, Naples – sustained water damage as did downtown Naples but it was not extensive, and they are closed until further notice.
– Little Palm Island – will be closed until November 1st 2022 to repair some of the beach damage but they did not sustain significant damage.
– Universal Orlando Resort will begin a phased reopen for Universal Orlando Resort hotel guests only. They continue to conduct assessment and recovery efforts across the entire destination with the safety of guests and team members being top priority. They expect to begin a phased reopen of portions of Universal Orlando Resort for hotel guests only beginning September 30th 2022.
– South Seas Island Resort has been impacted by the hurricane, causing widespread wind damage and flooding. At this time, the hotel team has been fully unable to assess actual damage to the resort however they anticipate the need to close the resort for an extended period of time. The only bridge to Sanibel Island and Captiva has had a partial collapse and road damage leading to the bridge. Therefore access to the lsland is not possible. We do not know the status of the second bridge leading to Captiva at this time. South Seas Resort is expected to close until December 31, 2022.
– Airports in Orlando (MCO), Jacksonville (JAX), Melbourne (MLB), St. Pete/Clearwater (PIE), Tampa (TPA), Sarasota/Bradenton (SRQ) and Southwest Florida (RSW) are currently closed. All are expected to reopen today with the exceptions of Fort Myers and Sarasota/Bradenton.

First Class	A dependable and comfortable hotel with standardised rooms. These are the ideal choice for travellers who don not require deluxe facilities or special services.
Moderate First Class	Essentially a First Class hotel with comfortable but sometimes simple accommodations. Public areas may be limited but generally provides all the essentials a guest requires.
