From the Mississippi River to the Great Smoky Mountains, Tennessee is the premier destination to discover the best of America’s great musical styles, riveting history, scenic beauty and thrilling outdoor adventures. You don’t just “visit” Tennessee, you “experience” it. Artistic types can dabble in music and arts while history and heritage fans can reflect on the state’s significant past.

Tennessee has always been a melting pot of musical styles. From the eastern mountains came Appalachian folk songs and bluegrass, whilst country music flowered in Nashville. Gospel, blues, rockabilly and ultimately rock ’n’ roll, all stemmed from the Mississippi belt.

Nashville is a major music performance and recording centre boasting a host of fine colleges and churches. To the southwest is Memphis, home of the blues and birthplace of rock ’n’ roll, and of course it is known as being the location of Graceland, the home of Elvis Presley.

On the south-eastern side of the state, perched next to the Tennessee River, is Chattanooga. This bustling city, with its train, was made famous by Glenn Miller’s song “Chattanooga Choo Choo”.

Tennessee is not all about music. For riveting outdoor adventure, Tennessee offer thrills you will never forget. Whether attending one of more than 800 festivals, visiting some of the 700 museums and historical landmarks, biking along miles and miles of trails, or camping and hiking in the 54 state parks, you are sure to find unforgettable adventures and excitement in Tennessee.

We can tailor an itinerary to suit your specific needs or you can select one of our three pre-planned fly drive itineraries, which take you through Tennesse and a selection of surrounding states. Choose from The Land of Music & Delta Blues which includes Tennessee, Mississippi and Alabama, Carolinas & Country taking you to Tennessee, Georgia, North and South Carolina, or Simply Southern Music & Golf journeying through Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana.

    • Top Tip 1

Most things in Memphis involve Elvis - even if you're not a fan, a visit to Sun Studios, Graceland Mansion and Elvis' customised jets, Lisa Marie & Hound Dog II, are all worth a visit.

    • Top Tip 2

Spend a night listening to Blues music at the wide variety of bars on Beale Street, Memphis.

    • Top Tip 3

Learn how Jack Daniels is produced in Lynchburg, Tennessee, but he warned, there's no tasting as Lynchburg County is dry.

    • Top Tip 4

Visit the Loveless Café for Nashville's famous biscuits (like our scones) and some great southern food. It's located at the northern terminus of the Natchez Trace Parkway which, in itself, is well worth a drive.
