27th February 2017 - After recent winter storms affecting the California Coast, Highway 1 in Monterey County has been closed until further notice from Palo Colorado (15 miles North of Big Sur) to Ragged Point, due to mudslides and structural damage to the Pfeiffer Canyon Bridge. Motorists are being advised to use an alternative route.
