Whistler is probably best known for Whistler Blackcomb, one of North America's top-rated ski resorts, which played a big part in the 2010 Winter Olympics. However it's also becoming fast known for the multitude of summer activities and outdoor adventure pursuits including rafting, mountain biking, ziplining and heli hiking.

Ski or snowboard on Whistler and Blackcomb mountains. There are a remarkable 200 marked trails with access from 37 lifts. Its 3,307 ha of diverse terrain tempt skiers of all levels, from novices to experts.
Hop on a chairlift or gondola to a mountaintop. Enjoy the panoramic vistas of glacier-capped mountain ranges and the Whistler Valley. Outdoor enthusiasts can cycle, walk, jog or blade the Valley Trail, which gently traverses the Valley and becomes an excellent cross-country ski route during the winter season. For a unique rush, strap on a full body harness then zoom across the forest valley between Blackcomb and Whistler on zipline cables.

Whistler is home to four championship courses designed by the greats: Jack Nicklaus, Robert Trent Jones, Jr., Arnold Palmer and Les Furber. The scenery at each is spectacular, with snow-capped majestic peaks and an abundance of wildlife. In winter, board a helicopter for the giddy, gravity-defying rush of heli-skiing. In summer, try heli-sightseeing and heli-hiking. Ask to stop off on a glacier.

For a more reserved, but no less memorable experience take the 3-hour, 118-km train journey from Vancouver to Whistler aboard the Whistler Mountaineer. Taking in one scenic landmark after another, it showcases the sparkling waters and wooded islands of Howe Sound, tumbling Shannon Falls and the rugged, snow-capped Coast Mountains.
